Terms of Use

Last updated: October 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of Murmurs, the voice journal app and web service operated by the Murmurs team ("we", "us"). By using Murmurs you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Murmurs. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Your account and recovery code

Murmurs creates an anonymous account for you and gives you a recovery code. The recovery code is the only way to restore your account on a new device, and anyone who has it can open your journal. Keep it safe and private. We store only a hash of it and cannot recover a lost code or identify you without it; if you lose every signed-in device and your recovery code, your journal cannot be restored.

2. Your content

Your recordings, notes, summaries, and prompts belong to you. You give us permission to store, copy, transmit, and process them โ€” including transcription and AI processing โ€” only as needed to provide Murmurs to you. You can export or delete your content at any time.

3. AI features

Transcripts, titles, polished text, and summaries are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Review them before you rely on them.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk.

5. Plans and limits

Murmurs has a free plan and a paid plan (Pro). Each plan has monthly limits on server transcription and summaries, and the free plan allows one AI polish and one AI title per note; the app shows your current usage. We may change plans and limits; changes to a paid plan take effect at your next renewal. Paid plans, when available, are subscriptions bought through the app store you use. They renew automatically until you cancel in that store's account settings, and payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by that store under its terms.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep Murmurs available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add, or remove features. Keep your own export of anything you cannot afford to lose.

7. Ending your use

You can stop using Murmurs and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account permanently deletes your journal.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Murmurs is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages or for loss of data, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be limited by contract.

9. Apple

If you use Murmurs on an Apple device, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not responsible for Murmurs or its support.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Murmurs after a change means you accept the updated terms.
